The exhibition Tinha uma pedra presents works developed by the artist Regina Dabdab between the months of July and October 2022 at the Carmo Johnson Projects Residence. Using the same mechanism of fitting elements of nature into the composition of her jewelry, Regina expands the dimensionality of the pieces, creating sculptures and objects in different formats and balances.

In a continuum between research and creation, the artist collects objects wherever she goes, revealing a process of recognition, selection, collection and cleaning of these materials.

Recycling is a fundamental part of the work as a history of transformations. If each material carries within itself memories of the action of time of the territories where they were found, the magic of Dabdab's work happens from the fit between these contrasting elements.

In this friction, the different raw materials establish energetic connections with each other, uniting – as if they were made for each other – what seemed distant in the original environment.

The crystal, the wood, the metal, the seed are part of a great whole that is nature. For some indigenous peoples, the river is a relative, just as the stone is a being. As a catalyst for the energies of nature, Regina's work symbolically
represents the totality of which we are all a part.

Dabdab’s attentive look at the pure, the raw, the organic, investigates the materiality and beauty of natural forms, sculpted by the sea, by thewind, by time. Combines these elements like a jigsaw puzzle, finding it senses, energy, and immanent shamanic power.

Each piece is a talisman and promotes the encounter between the mineral, plant and animal dimensions, with their ancestry.

The great novelty of this exhibition is the transposition of the artist's jewelry métier into three-dimensional space. Inspired, now too, by modernist architecture, concrete, glass, the incidence of light and nature present in the
Cunha Lima house, the artist produces works with new proportions and manifestations. Mobiles, pendants, wall brooches, activators, small and large-scale sculptures promote energetic harmonization in space. Architecture,
in this process, is embraced by the pieces and is also transformed.

Tinha uma pedra is an invitation to dive into all these dimensions and meanings and into the artist's creative process, which is constantly changing.
