Within the itinerant proposal of this project, Bruno Novelli handpicked where he wanted to exhibit his most recent painting production, at the Cunha Lima house in Pacaembu, designed by architect Joaquim Guedes, in 1958, kindly provided for this exhibition.

The characteristics of this brutalist architecture, introspective and subjective to the concept that form follows function, resonated with Bruno. Inside out.

Bruno is an artist who deepens interests among the most disparate, which are deliberately processed through painting and drawing. Indigenous graphics have had a relationship with him since he joined the Coletivo Upgrade do Macaco, in Porto Alegre, in actions developed experimenting with indecipherable typefaces, related to graffiti writing (pixo) which are still present, on canvas or wall - indifferent now.

The collective unconscious of exuberant potency is another layer explored by Bruno through experiences in indigenous ayahuasca rituals. The subconscious unveils archetype imageries that are refined by the return to consciousness, exposing the visionary, paradisiacal and brutal aspect of his paintings.

Quantum physics, vibrational studies related to the origin of the universe, nature’s sacred anarchy - compose layers in Bruno’s painting. Iconic figures and surreal landscapes are a pathway for his hybrid production, in general.

Disparate aspects of his research are expressed through resources extracted from art history. Models rescued from bold flat medieval art frescos and its occult simbology are often corrupted by denser brush strokes, favoring light, shade and at times, monumental compositions.

All of the connections amongst philosophy, science, mystique and art history are re-signified on Bruno’s production, converging with digital media culture. Novelli essentially transforms all of these elements into creations of his own.
